Yahoo!: AOL chief executive Tim Armstrong has talked a lot lately about how content is key to his company's future. And despite some skepticism over the company's strategy, AOL is moving forward with a bold acquisition to beef up both its original content and its news gathering capabilities.
In a major deal struck Sunday, AOL has agreed to purchase The Huffington Post—one of Internet's most-read news and opinion sites—for $315 million. Fittingly enough, the parties signed off on the blockbuster media merger at the Super Bowl.
Arianna Huffington, the site's co-founder and editor-in-chief, will oversee the integrated editorial content under The Huffington Post Media Group.
