Fire At Roseville Galleria

This surprised when I heard about it. Last night people on my Facebook were posting about this fire and hoping everyone was OK and I asked and went onto the local website out there and found out this is what they were talking about. I used to live right around the corner from the Galleria in Roseville. It's a beautiful mall (and the women there are hot too, had to throw that in), and though I don't live in that area anymore since I lost my job, I still try and keep up on events there.

I'm glad no one was seriously injured in the event first and foremost. Read the story about the fire and standoff below.

KCRA News: A raging arson fire tore through much of the Westfield Galleria at Roseville Thursday, leaving significant smoke and water damage.

Meanwhile, the mother of Alexander Piggee, the man arrested in connection with an earlier standoff and blaze at the mall, said she was in "shock."

Piggee, 23, said on his on Facebook page that he lives in the Sacramento area and has battled mental illness. He said he is originally from Stockton.

At about 1 p.m., Piggee was loaded into a police car and taken to the Roseville jail.

Piggee was seen being taken away from the jail and into an ambulance at about 5 p.m. Police said he was taken to Sutter Roseville Medical Center with an undiagnosed medical condition. By 7 p.m., Roseville police said, Piggee was transported to the Placer County Jail.

Smoke billowed skyward and flames shot from the roof of the mall Thursday afternoon as an earlier fire flared up again. At about 6:45 p.m., more flames were seen flickering from the roof of the building.

Just before 9 p.m., Roseville officials tweeted that the fire was contained and that crews would be monitoring hot spots throughout the night.

The mall includes about 240 stores, including Nordstrom, Macy's, JCPenney and Sears.

Piggee was taken into custody in connection with a standoff and blaze that occurred at the mall hours previously.

Piggee is facing charges of aggravated arson and criminal threats, police said.
